A Garden In The Rain

I would have preferred more conversations and actions than hearing their thoughts, their very drawn-out thoughts. I was flying through it, but I nearly but this one in the never to read pile because I was pushing myself through the first pages.

She was living in Hawaii at the time and the scope for her imagination poisoned fish, tropical cliffs, large spiders was great and poor Clinton bore the brunt of it. Eventually, Madelyn ends up back in time trying to avoid Bentley. Still the cast is strong and the different sub-genre elements blend nicely together so that the audience receives a fabulous novel.

The reader is also expected to accept that Madelyn is such a helpless sheep that she cannot secure her own belongings in a hotel room, control her own credit card, or even keep up with her passport. As Madelyn is trying to escape from Bentley she goes back into the twelfth century. This is one of my favorite from Kurland.

Honorable Mention Time Travel, The mix of humor and mutual awkwardness as Patrick, the man who thought he had built a gardrn around his heart, and the newly jilted Madelyn grow to care about each other is tender and mixed with a sort of tongue-in-cheek humor. For Madelyn Phillips, Scotland is the land of dreams, filled with magic, romance, and handsome Highland lords. Her life’s dream was to visit Scotland and now she has all the time in the world. If I need a good pick me up, or want to just have fun on a rainy day, I reach for this book. Madelyn, of course, spends much of her time ducking him and trying to get some control back over her life while trying to convince him to leave. This was an unusual time travel romance, at least I’ve not read anything like it before. I wish I had seen more of them and less of an annoying wench who weeps and weeps and weeps.

A Garden in the Rain : Lynn Kurland :

It would have made a lot more sense if she had dumped him and he followed her there to try and win her back, IMO After awhile his character is kind of dropped from the story and a new villain is introduced.
