I love the way Poe takes the obvious and weaves a story around it. Allan would rear Poe to be a businessman and a Virginia gentleman, but Poe had dreams of being a writer in emulation of his childhood hero the British poet Lord Byron. I am sure I would have enjoyed this story so much more if the narrator hadn’t sounded like he was lecturing instead of reading an Edgar Allan Poe short story.

The mystery is pretty obvious from the beginning, but the narration alan brilliant and very entertaining.
